FAQs

What is robotics ? What are its future prospects?

A robot is basically a programmable machine that can take decisions by itself. Robotics is the field of study that deals with the construction and working of such robots. If students show an inclination towards science and engineering now and want to make a career in these fields, this course will make them better prepared and lay the foundations for a better understanding.

It will help them immensely in terms of logic building and hence will help kids to become smarter and have an edge over others.

Why should I enroll my kids for this program? How students are benefited by doing robotics?

Reading ,wRiting, Arithmetic, and Robotics. Robotics is now becoming a part of the education process itself.

This program is hugely popular throughout the world, with over 3 lac kids participating in IRO. But in India only the top IB schools have this program. There are only 300 kids who enter the competition from India. We want our kids to be a part on a global level as well.

It is a very fun and practical way of understanding concepts of robotics. It helps kids with logic building as well as valuable life skills such as working in a team. As soon as a kid looks at his surroundings, at the back of his mind he knows the technology and logic behind robots and machines.

This ability to accept and understand new technology and think out of the box, will definitely give them an edge over others.

For e.g. 12 yr old kids abroad have such a great exposure that they actually make apps that we use on our smartphones.

We believe that even our kids can match up to that level. Here kids are already exposed to technology all around. This course will give them the push to understand all of this technology.

Why is Coding important?

Coding is basically the computer language used to develop apps, websites, and software.

Coding is important to learn because it teaches you important skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and creativity. The number of jobs that require coding skills are said to grow exponentially because most services and products are being digitized.

Why should my child learn coding?

Coding fosters creativity - A child expands their creativity when they learn how to code

Coding helps children become confident problem solvers.

Computer programming gives kids a challenge and helps them develop resilience

What is STEM and its Benefits

  • STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and STEM-based education teaches children more than science and mathematics concepts.
  • The focus on hands-on learning with real-world applications helps develop a variety of skill sets, of the 21st-century skills, like media and technology literacy, productivity, social skills, communication, flexibility and initiative.
  • Other skills attained through STEM education include problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, curiosity, decision making, leadership, entrepreneurship, acceptance of failure and more.
  • Regardless of the future career path considered by these children, these skill sets go a long way to preparing them to be innovative.

How do we create or set up our own STEM Lab in our school?

The push for STEM Education programs in schools has never been more loud then the past few years. With NEP also making programs like AI, Coding etc a part of the curriculum, its probably an appropriate time for schools to set up their own independent coding / stem labs.

There are 3 main focus areas on setting up this lab.

 1. Curriculum / Content and Session Plans – What to teach the kids is going to be critical and how best to structure it so that we get maximum learning in a limited amount of time. This structure will help teachers plan their classes and also leapfrog the testing phase to direct teaching.

 2. Training – The existing teachers / training staff in schools is far more capable to conduct these programs. All they require is specific program training.

 3. Resources – What are the best curated resources for programs like Robotics / Electronics etc to ensure that the lab is robust and user friendly for the children who will be using it. Curation is critical, as for example Robotic Kits costs range from Rs 4000 to Rs 80000/- per kit. Pros and Cons of each kit and the advantages it brings to the school are critical.

Which programs are necessary to start STEM education in our school??

STEM is the acronym for Science / Technology / Engineering & Maths. It has become a unique approach to learning and teaching modern day technologies & pedagogies. It has become essential to start STEM Education at an early age, which will help foster Hands On – Mind On thinking and deeper affinity towards programs like Robotics, Coding, Game Design, 3d Design etc. Programs can be broken in 2 groups.

Group A – With resources – Programs like Robotics / AI / IOT / Electronics / 3D Designing / STEM Fundamentals etc

Group B – Without resources – Programs like Coding / Game Design / App Building / HTML / Python etc Ideally a school should begin with 3 – 4 of these programs which will cover the broad spectrum of STEM and also have suitable age appropriate programs for all children.

www.irobokid.com recommends 1) Robotics / 2) Coding & Game Design & STEM Fundamentals.

What is FLITE?

FLITE or Future Learning in Technology Education is our one stop solution for schools to run their own independent learning platforms. The module comes equipped with all teaching tools / curriculum / session plans / assessment & grading tools and also training for the school teachers to run these programs in the school in a lab / cc or eca format independently and in a long term sustainable manner

Which is the best type of STEM lab for State Board schools?

It does not matter which school board the school is from, this is applicable and can be used across the entire spectrum of schools and students. The entire goal of programs with https://futurelearning.irobokid.com/ are created so that STEM can be delivered to each and every desk.

How much does it cost for a typical Coding Lab in a school?

Can teachers be trained to teach STEM education?

Training teacher is one of the main pillars of any good STEM / Coding and Innovation lab set up. Its essential for the school to identify good teachers / train them and make them aware of the process that needs to be followed in conducting these programs in a manner which will inspire kids to learn STEM education.
